This lazy Sunday our little project while Jakie took a nap was to make a Christmas tree out of peppermint candy.  We rolled some thick white paper into a cone and then used a glue gun to adhere the candy.  Hayden did well with the hot glue gun.  Hayden thought the tree worked better as a hat than as decor.  Here are some pics of him modeling it.

It’s the first day after thanksgiving and I put the tree up today.  A little eager, I know, but I am proud of myself for getting it done.  We will be away visiting family this Christmas, so I wanted to be able to enjoy the tree in our house while we are here.

Saturday was Hayden’s birthday.  Today we had his party (monday) because I had to work all weekend.  We had a great time.  Some friends from his class at preschool came over and we ate, ran around and had fun.  

It has become tradition that hayden picks out each year what kind of cake he wants, and I try to draw the character.  Two years ago, it was the hulk.  Last year was an opossum cake.  This year he wanted a black spiderman cake.  I made the spiderman head on the cake with fondant and black food coloring.  

Grandaddy is visiting this week for Hayden’s birthday!  We all went out for lunch today at my favorite barbeque restaurant….the Wetmore Smokehouse!  More pics to come. 

That is our latest nicknames for them.  They decided to tear up there beds this morning and make slides of them.  This is why I can no longer decorate the kids room.  I miss those days getting to decorate a cute little baby’s room.  Those days are long gone; but they are still cute:)

We decided to pull up the old rotting wood of our deck and replace it with flagstone.  It is halfway done.  I really like how it is turning out.  Hopefully it will be done by monday in time for Hayden’s backyard birthday party.  Cross your fingers.

I was inspired by professional photographer Yanick (from Montreal) to try and take better pics with my iphone since it is soooo portable!  Check out Yanick’s iphone pics of Greece!  Amazing.  Below here are some of mine that I thought the focus was reasonably o.k.  Obviously no where near as sharp as the canon, but good enough for handy cell phone snapshots  They say the best camera is the one you have with you, and for ease of portability, the iphone 3Gs can’t be beat (plus it takes video too:).
