Playing with Mommy’s Clothes

February 28, 2009

Today we played with mommy’s clothes.  Jake and hayden tried on my socks and shoes.  Jake also tried on my bracelet, which broke moments later.  Oh well, at least it only cost $2.

Yesterday it was warm here in San Antonio….in the 80′s!  Yes, that’s right…in the 80 in February.  This is unreal for a girl raised in Massachusetts.  So the boys and I went outside in the backyard with our bathing suits on and played with the hose.  I didn’t take pictures for long though as I was too scared they would get H20 on the new camera.  It was supposed to be 89 degrees today, but it doesn not feel as warm.

Mom 18 Feb 2009

February 25, 2009

My mom passed away one week ago today at the age of 73.  She passed at 11:25 p.m. on Wed, 18 Feb 2009 from stage 4 Thymic Cancer…a very rare cancer affecting the thymus gland (behind the breast bone).  The cancer was detected in Nov 08 and she suffered much pain for 4 months.  It is very sad to see her go, but we are at peace knowing she is no longer suffering and is in a better place.  Below is my favorite photograph of her at 18 years old taken in a garden.

The flowers (tulips) arrived tonight sent by my dearest girlfriends Laura and Dawn (which prompted me to add this post).

This card below was sent by Aunt Patty.  I was amazed at her choice of a card.  The picture on the card is what appears to be one woman comforting another while reading a book.  The exact moment my mom’s breathing started to slow down (and she eventually passed moments later), I was sitting by her bedside holding her hand and reading a book…very similar to the scene on the card.  I think Patty is very intuitive about things.

Botanical Gardens

February 23, 2009

On 2 Feb 09, we all went to the beautiful botanical gardens here in San Antonio, TX.  It was a fun day!  We also went with Tim’s dad who visited us for a week.  My favorite was the tropical building with all the orchids.  One of my favorite pics of Jacob was taken on this trip (2 earlier posts–the black and white pic).  We walked around most of the day and had lunch at the cutest cafe there called the Carriage House Bistro (CHB).  For desert we had Chocolate Mouse which was awesome with a fabulous raspberry sauce which turned out to be smuckers after we asked the waiter what it was!  Wish I didn’t know that.  I might start eating chocolate mousse at home (which I don’t need to do).

Jan 09 Wedding Pics

February 17, 2009

These images are from a wedding I photographed in January 2009 here in San Antonio, Texas.  These are some of my favorites.  Andrea and Robert were the nicest & most laid back couple.  Andrea had the most beautiful smile!

2009 Short Haircut

February 17, 2009

I have had long hair down to the middle of my back for the past 3 years.  Two weeks ago, I decided on impulse (thought about it for about 2 days) to cut it all off…very short (a short bob).  I LOVE it and the low maintenance!  It is liberating to be free of all that heavy hair.  I also love wearing funky earrings, and this way they are more visible.
